Applebee’s Bourbon Street Steak

  • 1/2 cup bottled steak sauce
  • 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 2 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 4 beef rib, round, or chuck steaks (10 ounces each)
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. salted butter
  • 2 cups thinly sliced white onions (about 1/2 onion)
  • 2 cups sliced white mushrooms
  • 1⁄8 tsp. salt
  • 1⁄8 tsp. ground black pepper


  1. Combine all the ingredients except the steaks in a baking dish or resealable plastic storage bag; mix well.
  2. Add the steaks; cover (or seal) and refrigerate for 2 hours, or overnight.
  3. Combine 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a medium skillet over medium/low heat.
  4. When the butter is melted add the sliced onion and saute for 2 to 3 minutes or until onion begins to soften.
  5. Add sliced mushrooms, salt and black pepper to pan and saute for another 2 to 3 minute or until onions and mushrooms begin to lightly brown.
  6. Set sauteed onion and mushrooms aside.
  7. Preheat the grill to medium−high heat.
  8. Grill the steaks for 12 to 15 minutes, or until desired doneness, turning them over halfway through the grilling.
  9. Serve the steak with the onion and mushrooms.
